Early Siri indexing gives iPadOS 26.6 a bigger job than it looks

iPadOS 26.6 is now available for iPad, beginning under-the-hood preparation for Siri AI while delivering security patches, bug fixes, and reliability improvements.

The update is light on visible features because Apple has shifted most of its development attention to iPadOS 27. However, iPadOS 26.6 appears to handle some of the background work required before the next operating system and its new Siri capabilities arrive.

Apple also tested iPadOS 26.6 alongside iOS 26.6 through an extended beta cycle. The two operating systems share many components, so some security improvements discovered during iPhone testing may also apply to compatible iPads.

The release build for iPadOS 26.6 is number 23G71.
