GM caves, CarPlay won’t be cut from gas-powered vehicles

It wasn’t all that long ago that GM’s executives called taking CarPlay out of vehicles a “Jobsian” move. They’ve caved to public pressure, and the option is present in some 2027 gas vehicles.

The interface is expected in the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks. Based on the description by GM, it comes with gauges, hands-free driving, and more. All of this feels like Apple’s new CarPlay interface.

There will be 60 inches of screen space in the new vehicles, with a screen for videos for the front-seat passenger.
