Prolific leaker Instant Digital has made a vague posting about how Apple considered a 16GB A20 Pro chip for iPhone 18 Pro. The timetable of the consideration isn’t clear, given that it takes between two and three years to move an Apple Silicon chip from concept to production.
It would have been nice. Two years ago there wasn’t even a burgeoning RAM crisis, but that has escalated in the last year, so it’s good for Apple’s bottom line to have only 12GB, versus that maybe-planned 16GB. Other than this lone guess, the rumor mill has said for two years that the A20 chip would have 12GB of RAM.
