With the release of the iOS 26.4 update on March 24, Apple introduced support for AI agents within CarPlay. To be more specific, the iPhone maker released a new CarPlay entitlement category for voice-driven conversational apps.
The move effectively enabled third-party AI to function within CarPlay, reducing users’ reliance on Siri. OpenAI’s ChatGPT has now become one of the first AI-related applications to take advantage of the new CarPlay entitlement, which is only delivered with Apple’s approval.
